Bam Confirmed Second Batch Hull And East Riding Priority Schools

Hemel Hempstead, July 30, 2014 – BAM has been designated as the preferred bidder for four priority schools in Hull and East Riding. The group of schools, worth around £38 million in total, consists of two secondary schools and two primary schools, and will provide learning spaces for 3,230 students.

The schools are Withernsea High School, Wolfreton School and Sixth Form College, Neasden and Foredyke Primary Schools, and are funded by the Education Funding Agency (EFA).

BAM has been appointed as a panel member for Withernsea High School, the batch’s sample school, and this is now subject to obtaining planning permission before a possible start on site in December. The school is approximately 60% new construction and 40% refurbishment.

The school, which is close to the coast and in a community that requires more communal facilities, has also received increased funding from the Local Authority, specifically for its sports facilities.

The remaining three schools are contingent on a final agreement being reached through the ITT process (invitation to tender). If this is successful, they will begin construction on site in early 2015.
