Construction Excellence To Be Celebrated

Yorkshire and Humber have launched annual awards to recognise innovation in the construction industry.

The Centre for Knowledge Exchange at Leeds Beckett University hosts the 2016 Constructing Excellence Yorkshire & Humber (CEYH) awards, which highlight the most innovative organisations, developments, and initiatives in the built environment over the previous year.

The awards are open to all organisations, companies, and project teams involved in delivering “excellence in construction” across 13 different categories, each of which represents the core themes underpinning the Constructing Excellence movement and improvement agenda.

“Innovation in construction is critical to the industry’s long-term success, and as a University, we offer a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as continuous development opportunities and business consulting, to effectively equip the workforce.” “Leeds Beckett University’s pro vice chancellor and dean, professor Mohammad Dastbaz, agreed.

“Once again, we are thrilled to be celebrating the breadth and depth of talent in our region through these awards, and we look forward to receiving entries in all categories.”

The winners of each category will be announced on July 1 at a gala dinner at Leeds’ New Dock Hall.

The theme of this year’s event is ‘Swinging from the Rooftops,’ and guests will be entertained by cocktails, dancing, and live music from our four-piece swing band following the awards presentations.

The winners will then compete in the National Construction Excellence Awards, which will be held in London in the autumn. Last year, the Yorkshire and Humber region received awards for both Value (Interserve) and BIM Project of the Year (Carillion Morgan Sindall Joint Venture), and with the fantastic projects currently underway, this can be surpassed in 2016!

The CEYH awards, organised by a dynamic and forward-thinking team, have grown to be a showpiece event in the regional construction calendar, with over 350 professionals representing a broad cross section of the construction industry gathering to celebrate the projects, companies, and organisations that are truly pushing our sector forward.

“We are delighted to sponsor the Construction Excellence Yorkshire and Humber Awards 2016 for the second consecutive year,” said Pete Watson, CEO of award sponsors Atlas Cloud.

“We have seen a significant shift in technology advancement in the regions, with mobile teams working on some of the country’s largest infrastructure projects, including HS2, MAG, Crossrail 2, and Hinkley Point. This region has incredible talent and is working on some of the most exciting projects, and we need to be vocal about it.”
